SURABAYA (stiesia.ac.id) – A member of the Student Regiment (Menwa) of STIESIA Surabaya, Arif Bahrudin Ro’ful, has made a notable contribution and brought pride to the academic community of Cemara Campus. This STIESIA student was appointed as the commander of the Surya Senja Parade (PSS) ceremony held at Grahadi Building, Surabaya, on Sunday, November 17, 2024.
The Surya Senja Parade (PSS) is a regular event organized by the East Java Provincial Government (Pemprov Jatim). This event is held on the 17th of every month and features various activities, one of which includes the lowering of the Indonesian flag (Merah Putih).
The role of parade commander is entrusted to various individuals from different institutions, ranging from Menwa activists from campuses to leaders of training organizations. For example, in October 2024, the parade commander was given to the TNI AL (Indonesian Navy) Kodiklatal. On Sunday, November 17, 2024, however, the Surya Senja Parade ceremony was commanded by Arif Bahrudin Ro’ful, a Menwa activist from STIESIA.
In recognition of his role as the commander of the Surya Senja Parade, Arif Bahrudin Ro’ful received a certificate of appreciation from the Governor of East Java. The certificate, numbered: 100.3.3/3211/KPTS/033.2/2024, was awarded to Arif Bahrudin Ro’ful for his role as the commander of the Surya Senja Parade at the provincial level in the Grahadi State Building. The certificate was signed by Adhy Karyono, the Acting Governor of East Java.
According to the Youth and Sports Office of the East Java Provincial Government, the Surya Senja Parade, initiated by the East Java Provincial Government and involving the youth in developing the potential of East Java’s young generation, is an effort to maintain nationalism through the ceremony of lowering the Merah Putih flag, which is preceded by cultural performances from the region.
The Surya Senja Parade serves as a platform for skill development that indirectly trains the younger generation to be responsible for what is entrusted to them through the exhibition of art and talent, in order to foster a spirit of concern for the progress of the region, especially East Java.
This event, organized by the Youth and Sports Office of East Java, is a form of facilitation for students and young people to channel their love for their country and provide space for artistic creations and drum bands.
